This probably isn't the place for discussing the pros and cons of 3D<br>
printing but both applications you gave are things that standard 3D<br>
printers (ie not £50,000 worth of technology) are totally unsuitable for! I<br>
love 3D printing, only last week I made a custom jig for a toy being<br>
finished on a disc sander (<a href="http://jonathanjamieson.com/projects/kururin/" rel="noreferrer" target="_blank">http://jonathanjamieson.com/p<wbr>rojects/kururin/</a>)<br>
that couldn't have been easily done without a 3D printer. However, a few<br>
years ago there was a bit of a bubble and hype about 3D printer, probably<br>
overstating what the technology is capable of and what people are<br>
realistically going to do with it. There are successful Makerspaces out<br>
there but it's risky business: the machines, insurance, getting enough<br>
members to pay for it all...<br>
