Hello!

Apologies I didn't make the Open Day meeting. Been away on work.
I think some info on the sound walk would be helpful from me!

Working title: Tuning Garnethill
It will be an opportunity to listen/play
I will lead folks on a meander around the sonically interesting in Garnethill, with my field recorder and mics, which will be micro broadcast using an FM transmitter.
People can dip in and out of the Venn diagram of transmission, as I play recordings and live sound.
The walk will last about 20 minutes.

All you need to do is bring a portable FM radio +/ headphones
Many mobile phones have these, tho some hold on your shoulder wee ones would be good for sharing the broadcast/giving a late 80s vibe.

If EC members could lend FM radios (with batteries/wind up) for the walk, I would really appreciate that.
Is the best way for folks to mail me and let me know?
I have about 4 small and a wind up radio for starters anyway and a few sets of new in ear headphones knocking about from phones etc.

Going to Garnethill this Saturday afternoon to sound it out (about 2.30pm) If anyone is interested in coming along or would like to be involved in the walk/transmission, let me know!

Time:
Happy to fit in with other slots. Was thinking about somewhere from 4.50pm - for the Degree Show closing time alarm in the Mack building?/lots of people - to after the talks after 5pm and before the performance at 7pm. Any thoughts on this are appreciated. I will also feed back after my Sat visit/listen.
Is this lack of specified time ok for publicity material? Can we advertise walk time on the day?

Any questions etc, please get in touch.

Ta

Lucie

> Date: Mon, 1 Jun 2009 15:38:31 +0100
> From: simon@lipparosa.org
> To: members@electronclub.org
> Subject: Re: [ELECTRON] open day meeting tonight at 7pm - reminder
>
> that's Bob's job.
>
> best wishes
> Si
>
>
>
> makerfair wrote:
> > Also need someone to harrass public on the raffle tickets.
> >
> > Regards
> > *Nina Baker*
> >
> > -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
> > Being a councillor:
> > http://www.glasgow.gov.uk/en/YourCouncil/Council_Committees/Councillors/w10c2694.htm
> > My steampunk blog: http://greensteampunk.blogspot.com/**
> > *Maker fair blog: **http://mcmadsat.blogspot.com/*
> > <http://www.instructables.com/tag/?q=greensteam&limit%3Atype%3Aid=on&type%3Aid=on&type%3Auser=on&type%3Acomment=on&type%3Agroup=on&type%3AforumTopic=on&sort=none>
> > *//*
> >
> >
> > --- On *Mon, 1/6/09, Simon Yuill /<simon@lipparosa.org>/* wrote:
> >
> >
> > From: Simon Yuill <simon@lipparosa.org>
> > Subject: Re: [ELECTRON] open day meeting tonight at 7pm - reminder
> > To: "Discussion list for the Electron Club" <members@electronclub.org>
> > Date: Monday, 1 June, 2009, 2:42 PM
> >
> > Hi Nina,
> >
> > sorry you can't manage tonight, but the makers fair bit all sounds good!
> >
> > sadly, yes no Dorkbot this time at least no demos from them but some
> > might be coming through for a look-see and socialise
> >
> > the DIY wind and circuit bending are both Leigh, it will be one or the
> > other depending on how he progresses with his turbine.
> >
> > microFM was originally Ben Rush but he is now doing video-audio
> > transmutations, however, the microFM has transmogrified into Lucie's
> > walk so that will be outdoors
> >
> > homebaking - Magnus, Lucie and me are all cooking, I think Magnus might
> > be able to run that stall a bit, but a rota may be good there and have a
> > few people take turns during the day.
> >
> > still need a shout-out for the circuit cookies - anyone fancy it?
> >
> > best wishes
> > Si
> >
> >
> >
> > makerfair wrote:
> > > I cant manage tonights meeting but here is where we are at with
> > > confirmed folks in the Soul of Tesla Makery:
> > >
> > > Dr Greensteam and Son's (Nina and Merlin) repurposing workshop:
> > display
> > > and public hands-on activity
> > > Clockworkrobot (James) electronics kits and soldering: items to
> > buy and
> > > public hands-on activity.
> > > Homebaking (all) - need someone to oversee the selling of the stuff
> > > Patrick Andrews: PowerPoint of some inventions, demo of
> > > www.scenereader.com <http://www.scenereader.com
> > <http://www.scenereader.com/>>
> > >
> > > STILL looking for a volunteer or two to run cookie circuit making
> > > (circuit diagrams made with sweets etc)
> > >
> > > I note the other items (DIY wind, radio, hackery etc) in the list
> > on the
> > > web but I have not heard direct from anyone that is bringing such
> > stuff.
> > > There is the capacity.
