I was thinking about this again this morning, & I'm pretty sure you can<br>
do this with an array for passive infra-red sensors and either a shift<br>
register or a couple of Arduino Mega's. (One to read the array, and<br>
one to control the lighting.) Mostly, it would depend on the area you<br>
would be looking to monitor.<br>

I would imagine there are plenty of suitable, weather / vandal resistant<br>
sensors that would work out of the box.<br>
