Thanks to Ben and Bob we now have two nice computers setup in the corner.
Each has a flat screen (one was hidden behind an old mac), the computer Bob provided has a Creative Audigy 2 (for those interested in doing music).

Both are running Ubuntu 10.10 and the password written on the wall.
Shortly I'll drop off some proper notes (laminated) detailing the passwords, how to install software and so on.

I'll add more memory to the computer Bob provided, I think there's some in the cupboard.
Next week I'll finish up sorting out the other computer which was already there, and make a decision which ones to keep, assuming people still feel there should be a maximum of two.

Which brings me round to the subject of what to do with the army of surplus, dead and dying computers/equipment.
I think it would be a good idea if we had a list of the equipment in the room, the specifications and wither it works or not.
There are a few things which are marked as 'faulty' some in permanent marker. I'd like to test them to be sure.
If anyone wants to lend a hand doing this let me know.

Once we have a list of equipment, we'll know what we need to keep, what is broken and what is just lying around gathering dust, which is another issue in itself.

Cheers

Martin
