<p dir="ltr">(My bias - I learned c first and never liked the "progression" to c++ as programming stopped being fun then)</p>
<p dir="ltr">Start with c. Its a neat, complete (imho) and *fun* language that's quick to get going with and I think encourages good practice. Python I think is similar but just seems somehow best to have c as your foundation to build up from.</p>

but as i've said c, c++ and c# are all in the same family. as Delphi,<br>
and Pascal are in the same family, Basic and visual basic etc...<br>
each language has its uses and specialization. and if there is one<br>
thing about programming and the options available it is that there are<br>
many and each has its pros and cons. and i don't want this to descend<br>
into an argument of the pros and cons of one over the other.<br>
so so far i have someone wanting to learn c++<br>
and someone suggesting PHP.<br>
do we have any others?<br>
what time would suit people to have the first meeting and if not Monday<br>
what day would people prefer.<br>
