<div dir="ltr"><div><div>So how about having it on Monday and starting at 3pm? that way we would have plenty of time before the 7 o'clock meeting. i can put together a lesson plan and since there are plenty of tutorials online I'll use these to create a simple course, and i'll write up a set of course notes for the first lesson and distribute them before monday, i'll cover both C++ and PHP that way people can chose which one they want to use and it will also let you see the similarities between the different languages as well as the differences. as i've said one you understand the core principals the language is really irrelevant <br>

types, variables, functions, classes, procedures, objects, libraries, and<br>
then use them to look at creating a very simple text based dice game.<br>
we could then over time look at how we would expand this simple game. i<br>
find its always good to set a problem and see what issue arise and then<br>
tackle the issue and use any issues people have in the wrap up of the<br>
lesson so everyone can benefit from the improved understanding resolving<br>
the issue has given.<br>

Blair I don't care which language people want to learn, the group can<br>
cover them all as far as concerned as I've said before all the c<br>
languages are part of the same family tree.<br>
i was thinking for the first group to cover some main area's of<br>
programming.<br>
Such as variables, types, classes, functions, procedures, etc and perhaps<br>
look at the differences and similarities between the languages people<br>
want to learn.<br>
i think it would be good to have some actual problem to solve, someone<br>
mentioned yathzee which maybe a bit complicated for the first meeting but<br>
perhaps we can use it as a starting point.<br>
by that i mean we could look at identifying what would be need to write a<br>
yathzee type game perhaps starting out with a craps. although someone<br>
would need to have the rules for theses games<br>
as we would need to cover quite a few of the areas to create a simple<br>
dice game.<br>

IIRC the Arduino core libs are written in C and C++, most of the<br>

which I'd have thought would have made it more appealing that C++ for<br>

Arduino, given the fairly limited resources.<br>
